How to Write a Good Statement

A good statement is one that is easy for others to agree with. This will result in the maximum number of "agree votes" from other users and your statement will get pushed closer to the top of the topic page. Follow these guidelines to create statements that will get the maximum number of "agree votes".

1. Make A Single Statement of Fact or Opinion

Consider this statement:

#50

"The United States gained independence from Great Britain in 1776, there were 10 original colonies, and George Washington was the first president."

Because there are multiple statements made here, other users might agree with part of your statement, but not other parts. In this case, many users will disagree with your statement.

An alternative statement that would likely result in many more users agreeing with your statement would be:

#1

"The United States gained its independence in 1776"
